The Fort Smith Board of Directors will consider entering into a more than $1.3 million contract for street overlays and reconstruction Tuesday.

In a memo to City Administrator Carl Geffken, Director of Engineering Stan Snodgrass recommended that the board agree to the $1,377,384 contract with Forsgren, Inc. The asphault overlays and reconstruction on Old Greenwood Road between Cliff Drive and Country Club Avenue and on 800 feet of Cliff Drive east of Old Greenwood Drive are to be completed by July 20.

The board will also vote whether to allow the Street Department to purchase a tractor with a loader and finish mower for $16,850.

"Due to the increased number of City maintained detention ponds, it has become necessary for the Street Department to purchase an additional tractor mower to meet the mowing needs of these detention areas," according to a memo from Purchasing Manager Alie Bahsoon to Geffken.

Immediately after the meeting's adjournment, there will be a town hall meeting, giving residents up to five minutes each to introduce issues concerning city government.

The Board of Directors' meeting will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Fort Smith Public Schools Service Center, Building B, 3205 Jenny Lind Road.
