On Tuesday, May 15, 2018, $1000 scholarships were presented to four local students planning to pursue/or are already pursuing a career in the medical field. The honorees were Hali Bish from Heber Springs, Megan Crossen from Tumbling Shoals, Emily Phelps from Tumbling Shoals, and Kendall White from Concord. Several applications were received and these four ladies scored the highest on the point system used to evaluate each application.
Hali Bish and Emily Phelps will be attending UACCB in Batesville for nursing degrees, Megan Crossen is at Baptist Health College in Little Rock for an advanced nursing degree, and Kendall White will be at Williams Baptist in Walnut Ridge for a speech pathology degree. "We know these students will do their very best and be very successful in their chosen fields." said Freda Brown, Director of Volunteers.
They feel it is very important to support our local students. To date, the Auxiliary has presented a total of thirty-five, $1000 scholarships, beginning in 2006 with one winner. The number of scholarships awarded varies from year to year based on available funds. The Auxiliary holds several fund raisers throughout the year.
In addition to giving freely of their time and talents, the Auxiliary also supports the hospital and the Baptist clinics by purchasing needed equipment. They are always looking for new members. If you would like to become a volunteer, Auxiliary member, please call Freda@ 501-887-3284.
