Michael Kramer is a 2014 graduate from Heber Springs High School. Kramer is a Football All Conference SAA,All SAA Academic Honors and Team Captain who helped win a Conference Title in the third year of the program.  “Michael was the leading tackler for the last two years.  He was the leader of our defense. Michael was the Heart and soul of our team really”, said Coach Buck Buchanan, Head Football Coach at Hendrix College.  “I would put him up against anyone else I have ever coached in my career in terms of hardest working player.  He embodies exactly what you want when you say give everything you got, because he gave everything on every snap.  He is the epitome of a player that played until glass shatters.  He led our senior class to the winningest class in school history for football.  He matches his on the field tenacity in the classroom.  He is accepted to UAMS Pharmacy School early admission.  He has been working as a licensed pharmacy technician.  He has done extensive research in organic chemistry with Dr. Yanney and presented research at the National American Chemical Society Conference as well as being published in the ‘Wiley Journal of Physical Organic Chemistry’.   Another big component for this award is service.  Michael was a Hendrix College United Methodist Scholar and did multiple retreats per year and he was a Younglife leader and did multiple community service projects.  Michael combines the epitome of the student athlete that we all strive to be:  a great player on the field, being an all conference player, a great student in the classroom and devoting his time to service.  It has been my honor to have coached this young man.”  He definitely deserves to represent us as Hendrix College Man of the Year.”
