The 32nd Annual Herb Harvest Fall Festival will be Oct. 8 and 9 at Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View. The two-day event sponsored by The Committee of 100 for the Ozark Folk Center and the Herb Society of America – Ozark Unit will explore the botanical treasures of Canada in collaboration with Canadian herbalists, guest speakers, and delectable luncheons featuring Canadian-style cuisine.
This year’s list of featured guests includes medical herbalist Daniel Gagnon, MS, RH (AHG), award-winning author and photographer Pat Crocker, culinary artist Susan Belsinger, horticultural historian Kathleen Connole, the Ozark Folk Center Heritage Herb Garden team and more.
The Herb Harvest Fall Festival kicks off Thursday, October 7 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the Craft Village with a garden party reception featuring libations and flavors of Canada followed by the annual Lavish Herbal Feast in the Skillet Restaurant, also located at the state park. Menu items for this year’s Canadian style Thanksgiving includes roast turkey with savory sage and onion stuffing, mashed potatoes and turkey (or mushroom) gravy, winter squash broth with leeks and mustard greens harvested fresh from the Heritage Herb Garden served with Bannock bread, roasted nut and grain loaf, spiced cranberry sauce, oven-roasted brussels sprouts with maple glaze, traditional butter tarts, and coffee or tea.
