Carmenmilagros C. Tierney-Hurst passed away January 16, 2019

Carmenmilagros C. Tierney-Hurst of Heber Springs, Arkansas was called home on January 16, 2019.  Born in New York on August 15, 1955 she was the daughter of Guadalupe and Peter Chambertides.

Carmen was a great bargain shopper, loved making crafts and had a heart of gold, helping anyone in need.

A decorated Vietnam Era Veteran, Carmen was one of the first females in the Air Force to become a Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Specialist.  She was awarded the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award.

She is survived by her husband Thomas, her children Chris, Kimberly, Elizabeth and Shannon.  Carmen is also survived by her siblings, nieces and nephews and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2019 at Olmstead Funeral home with services being held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Quitman, Arkansas with Bishop Pat Richardson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas at 1:00 p.m..
