Durrel Wayne “Lefty” James, age 84, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Merch 14, 2019 in Searcy, Arkansas.  Born on May 1, 1934 in Pleasant Plains, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Virgel and Eva Cook James.

Durrel was a loving son, husband and father.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a long time employee of the Heber Springs Water Department, and was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers where he worked on the construction of the Greers Ferry Dam.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Laverne James, his son Steve James, and his special niece and nephew Shelly Welch and Cody Hariston.  Mr. James is also survived by his other relatives and many friends.

Visitation was held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, March 18, 2019 with funeral services at 11:00 at the Heber Springs Church of Christ with Bill Pratt and John Carey officiating.  Interment will follow in the Heber Springs Cemetery.
