He is survived by his sons Ricky Cooper (Liz) of El Paso, Arkansas and Randy Cooper of Concord, and daughter-in-law Karen Cooper (Ronnie) of Drasco; grandchildren Corey Cooper (Sara) of Searcy, Brett Cooper (Amber) of Drasco, Lauren Hendrix (Remington) of Cave Springs, and Jason Cooper (Gloria) of Shreveport, Louisiana; great grandchildren Ava, Ellie, Alex, Emma, Adelyne, Paislee, and Milo; brothers Wallace Cooper (Daisy) of Concord, Marlin Cooper (Teresa) of Concord, Ray Cooper (Sharon) of Cave City, and Robert Cooper (Artivee) of Ponca City, Oklahoma; sister Margie Tucker (John L) of Concord; sister-in-law, Glenda Cooper along with countless other relatives and many friends.

Sonny retired after a 58-year truck driving career that took him many places and gave him endless stories to tell. He started his career driving for others and then became owner and operator of his own truck. During his time on the road, he remembered paying only one speeding ticket and had an exemplary safety record with only one minor accident. He passed his love of the road to all three of his sons, and there were countless hours of trucking spoken between the four of them. Sonny enjoyed talking to old friends and new acquaintances, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, and attending Concord Pirate Basketball games. His favorite pastime was dancing, a hobby that he enjoyed tremendously with his wife Inez. He will be remembered for his bright smile and big hugs and handshakes, all of which he would offer willingly to anyone who was lucky enough to meet him.

Sonny was a faithful and long-time member of Concord United Methodist Church and a frequent visitor to the Concord Community Center and Mountain View Folklore Society.
