The Heber Springs Panthers got off to a quick 1-0 advantage over the Gosnell Pirates in the first round of the 4A East Regional Tournament held at Southside Batesville Thursdayevening, but would eventually have their campaign come to a halt after Gosnell scored five unanswered runs.

Senior Jacob Bremmon got the visiting team on the scoreboard first, blasting a shot over the centerfield wall to go up 1-0 for his first career homer. Gosnell would strike right back and swing the momentum in their direction after Andy Roberts sent a laser hit to center that was good for a 2-1 lead, as the Pirates would go on to add three more insurance runs to their total.

The Panthers had a tough go at it from the third inning onward, only accumulating one other hit aside from Bremmon’s in a base knock from junior Nicholas Chaney.

Jenkins suffered the loss for Heber, who finishes 16-13, striking out five while allowing six hits and a walk in four innings of work. Bremmon came on in relief, setting down three while giving up one base on balls.
