It wasn’t pretty at the Panthers’ Den on Friday.
The Heber Springs Lady Panthers couldn’t find a way to put the ball into the bucket. The Ozark Lady Hillbillies fell 54-25
Though the Lady Panthers scored the first bucket of the game, there wasn’t much scoring by either team in the next four minutes.
What scoring there was belonged to Ozark to the tune of an 10-0 over a span of nearly five minutes.
Jaylea Hooten scored the first points before the run and her jumper broke the run with three and a half minutes to play in the first quarter.
The first points not scored by Hooten came from Hailey Breshahan at the foul line with two minutes to go in the first quarter.
Despite their woes, Heber Springs was only down by six points.
It was Ozark, however, that struck again with six of the quarter’s final eight points to end the quarter up by 10 at 18-8.
Hooten accounted for six of Heber Springs’ points. She finished with nine points to lead the Lady Panthers.
Three other Lady Panthers scored four points each.
The Lady Panthers’ scoring woes worsened in the second quarter. A four-point output in the second quarter was half of the first quarter’s production.
Ozark went into the locker room with a 34-12 cushion. The Lady Panthers went into the locker room with questions.
The Lady Panthers had no answers coming out of the locker room with the game resulting in an agreed-upon mercy rule invoked at the 2:39 mark of the third quarter.
The Lady Hillbillies were up 49-19 when the fourth quarter rolled around.
