I can think of now better way to the New Year started than by attending one of several outdoor & sport shows, but with that said, we all have a favorite and for me and a large number of folks, the Arkansas Big Buck Classic to be held January 27-29 at the Arkansas State Fairgrounds is one of those you never want to miss.
Along with about 300,000 other men & women who are all about big bucks, the big weekend of the year is definitely during this show as the major portion of the Arkansas Deer season is over and it is now time to bring in the big bucks from all across the state for the Arkansas Big Buck Classic. All types of activities and products will be on display and some lucky hunter will take home $10,000 in prize money and this show also includes several free prize drawings that you can register for throughout the show.
The Big Buck Classic has a large variety of other things going on as well, but the big rattlesnake display is a fan favorite, but as for me I will stay far from there and maybe check out the alligator wrestling.
Each year there are some monster bucks from all across the state on display, but what is amazing is that each year someone never fails to push the envelope and top what was brought in the year before and this year will be no different as 2022 seen several monster deer harvested and word is there could be a few surprises as well.
So as your start making plans now to attend the Arkansas Big Buck Classic. Who knows you might learn something new or even turn out to be one the lucky prize winners.
If it more in the fishing side of outdoor shows you are interested in, then next weekend will be tailor made just for you as the longest running of all the shows kicks off.
The Arkansas Marine Expo, which is taking place at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock. This year’s show is set to begin on January 20 and runs through Jan. 22, and includes a drawing for a free boat at the close of the show. Admission is $5.00 with kids twelve and under getting in free.
The Arkansas Marine Expo is more of a festival than a boat show. There will be all types of attractions such as the Arkansas Game and Fish mobile fish tank and all types of door prizes will be given away including a boat at the shows conclusion. The youngsters will want to try the fishing pond and catch a few fish right there at the show.
No matter what your interests are when it comes to the outdoors one of these two shows will have something that you are interested in.
From tackle to camping & hunting gear, a large variety combined with fun and entertainment come with each and every show which last for three days on their particular weekend to run.
Many of the state’s major fishing circuits will be announcing or having sign-ups for their upcoming tours. They will also have brochures available and some will even have booths set up to promote and attract new anglers to their respective events. Almost every major fishing circuit makes Lake Dardanelle as one of their tour stops, so it is important to get signed up early.
I hope everyone’s 2023 has gotten off to a fantastic start and as many of you I am looking forward to see what is in store for the New Year.
